Choosing your first vibrator

Start with placement, not power. Most people who describe a first toy as "too much" bought something internal when what they wanted was external, or bought a deep rumble when they wanted a light flutter.

Ask yourself four things. Where do you want sensation — outside, inside, or both? Do you prefer broad pressure or a pinpoint? Do you want to hold it, or wear it? And will you use it in water?

Those four answers map almost perfectly onto our filters. Everything else — colour, brand, app control — is preference, not fit. Buy body-safe silicone or ABS, buy rechargeable, and buy something you can clean in under a minute. A toy you can clean easily is a toy you will actually use.
